It is that time of the year again, when everyone involved in the automotive industry in the region is gearing up for the biggest automotive aftermarket tradeshow in the Middle East, Automechanika Dubai. The show will serve as an event where we get to learn about the latest innovations in the field and will also get to network with global and regional players in the aftermarket sector. There will be a few exhibitors who are participating in the show for the first time as part of their drive to gain access to this fast growing market. There will also be many who are returning to the show after participating in the prior editions as they have reaped the benefits of taking part in Automechanika Dubai. While we have focused in many previous editions of the magazine about the rapid pace of change in the automotive industry, let us not forget that the tire industry and parts sector too has had to change at a rapid pace to accommodate these changes in automotive technology. In our new business ideas section, we look at the new tire that Continental has developed specifically for electric vehicles. We also look at a new type of synthetic rubber that has been developed for tire production and technologies that can be used for tire identification. Automotive companies are increasingly playing catch up when it comes to technology and design. One fact that they need to keep in mind is that women already own 62 percent of the cars on the road and have 95 percent veto power when it comes to purchasing decisions. In our blog section, we write about a study that reveals that for women, choosing a car is all about safety, practicality and comfort. Automotive companies pour billions into research and development in order to outpace their competitors, and this is definitely a market that they cannot afford to ignore. In the end, it is all about the basics – safety, comfort and reliability.Hamid MoarefPublisherPAGE 14Publishers Note :All images, designs, layout and advertisements are copyrighted.
