This year has been one in which the automotive industry has continued to grow at the rapid pace it has shown in the past few years. The 15th edition of the Dubai International Motor Show, as in the previous years, was an outstanding success. The event proved to be a petrol head’s dream. Models ranging from the Bugatti Chron to the smallest car in the world, the Peel Trident impressed the visitors to the show. The ongoing 2019 International Conference for Future Mobility served as a platform for the participants to network and learn more about the latest trends in future mobility. This has been also been a year in which technology has been driving innovation in the automotive industry. Autonomous vehicles are looking more viable with the advent of 5G. A new technology that we have covered in the “New Business Idea” section could make it possible to charge EV batteries in just ten minutes, potentially spelling an end to concerns about the range of electric vehicles. Another story we covered is the advent of smart testing for those who want to get a driving licenses. By the end of the next decade, there is every chance that getting a driving license would no longer be a rite of passage as we would no longer need one to travel in an autonomous vehicle. I consider myself lucky to live at such an exciting time for the automotive industry. I hope you all do so too.
